Say this for Betsy DeVos: The secretary of education has shown an impressive commitment to rescuing her friends in the for-profit college business from pesky measures to rein in their predatory behavior. As pet projects go, it lacks the sulfurous originality of her emerging idea to let states use federal dollars to put guns in schools. But it is a scandal nonetheless. Given the choice between protecting low-income students — and, by extension, American taxpayers — and facilitating the buck-raking of a scandal-ridden industry, Ms. DeVos aggressively pursues Option B.

I’m excited to dive into this book by @rebeccanatow (especially since we are in the thick of so many higher ed #negreg processes at the moment).
Biden Admin is also considering excluding grad students from new #IDR plan it is creating. Many on #negreg cmte raised same concerns I just did. Hopefully, ED takes these arguments into consideration before IDR plan is finalized. /6
We urged lawmakers at the #NegReg to reconsider changes to the 90/10 rule that would restrict #Veteran education choices. We were glad to see others, including @AUSNTweets, @EANGUS72, MCF, @ncoausa, and @SOAAorg express similar concerns.
I hope this means the Prison Education Program NPRM is coming out soon. #negreg #PellYes
ED intends to fully implement legislative changes to allow eligible students in college-in-prison programs to access Federal Pell Grants beginning on July 1, 2023. [4/5]
