Further Borrower Defense Delays

On October 20, 2017, the Education Department announced further delays of the 2016 Borrower Defense rule. Yet, reports show that 87,000 defrauded borrowers continue to wait for the relief they are entitled to under the law and that the Department is contemplating providing partial relief to borrowers. On average, based on these reports, the Department continues to receive 200 Borrower Defense applications each day.
